FO Friday

It hit me Wednesday night that I wouldn’t have anything to show for FO Friday if I didn’t get a quickie project cast on. The capelet and shawl are no where near capable of being done, so off to look for a possible pattern. Remembering that I have a plan to make 13 pair of boot cuffs in 2013, I pulled out some leftover Peruvia Quick since it would knit up quickly. Cast on Thursday morning for these, and by Thursday night had them done.

Now, how to photograph them? And wouldn’t you know it, WEBS had a blog post about that very thing today. I would have preferred a daughter model them for me, but knew I wouldn’t likely get the cooperation from the only one at home, so I got creative.

First attempt:

iNDy's legwarmers

While it’s a “live” model, iNDy, there was no way to get the boots on, so this was a no go.

Boot Cuffs in Boots

So I stuffed them in my boots and posed them on my dresser.

In a perfect world, there would be sunshine at 9:00 pm and I could get a better shot of the cables. But, this ain’t a perfect world. If it was, I would be married to Hugh Jackman! But I digress.

These were knit up using a small amount of Peruvia. Just 67 yds, so they aren’t as long as they should be. But, they only need to show a bit above the boot. These will go to school with one of the daughters tomorrow to see if a friend wants them. Younger has a pair and Elder isn’t interested, nor has an appropriate pair of boots to wear with them. I don’t have an appropriate pair of jeans to tuck into my boots to wear with them. Working on that, but at 52, it’s hard to see myself wearing skinny jeans. Have yet to try my straight leg jeans tucked into the cuff. But since they are longs, I fear I have too much fabric to tuck in. Oh the issues we face. LOL.

Now head over to Tami’s and Wonder to see what others’ have done this week. While reading up on all the FOs I will be working on Milkweed or Wingspan. It’s nice to have a choice, intense or easy. Or maybe I will work some time in on both!

PS: Couldn’t resist this photo of Cooper, the dog who would be a cat. He just started climbing up on our sofa to snuggle and sleep this week. Instead of jumping, he pounces, just like a cat. Crazy dog. They are wearing their “we got too matted from the snow clumping in our fur” haircuts right now. Which makes for iced doggies when they go out in the current frigid temps. I need to knit them sweaters!

  1. The cuffs are definitely cute! And since January is nearly over, I think it was a good thing you’ve made a start on the list of 13 pair you’re planning to make! :) I’m glad I didn’t have to cut my dog’s hair all off from the snow! It’s been very cold this week.

  2. Your live model is a cutie, especially with those pretty boot cuffs on! I have been meaning to knit one for myself. They add a bit of knitted color and fun to practical winter boots. You should try wearing a pair layered over some warm woolen tights and a skirt.

Cat got your tongue?
