Will I need more confession time when I get home today?

I am off to Modern Ewe for the 2nd session of the sweater class. Hoping I can stay away from any more yarn purchases in the month of Feb. Cause I just bought close to 1200 more yards of yarn! 7 more skeins!!! Now look at that total Stash on Hand over in the side bar. 74,689 yards! I had just gotten it down to 73,000 on Thursday. I was down to 409 skeins. At least more knitting on Friday counteracted some of that stash enhancement. And really, can I call it Stash Enhancement at this point. Or maybe Stash Mania?

But of course, it’s all for a good cause and is planned for immediate usage. Oh wait, that’s been the excuse for everything else I have purchased this year. OK, no more using that excuse. If I cannot find yarn in my stash to use for the project, it don’t get done!

The recent purchase from WEBS, that evil place, is for felted clogs done my favorite way. You buy two skeins of Kureyon, trying to get them to be as close in sequence match as you can. I can’t do this since I am ordering online, but I will make it work. Working the upper in Kureyon, you find a solid worsted that will match a stripe color in the Kureyon for the sole. Then you stripe the upper by holding the two strands of Kureyon, matching the stripe sequence as well as you can. Then proceed with the solid for the remainder of the clog. Here are the colors I got for the 2 pairs of clogs:

The counselor at the girls’ school has been a big help recently to both daughters, so she deserves a present. When I asked her about slippers, she said, yes, she wears them. OK, enough for me. And I asked if she wanted school colors, or specific colors. She said school was fine. The school colors are brown and gold. The Kureyon has shades of brown that look like they are close enough for me! The Kureyon is on closeout in this colorway at WEBS, so it was meant to be. The Northampton solids were a great price, $5.99 for 247 yds! So, for $45 with shipping I have enough for 2 pairs. The other pair? Oh, that’s for me. I couldn’t resist! And my current pair are a little short on the length on the left slipper. I can always find a good home for them.

So, confession so far for February is:

  • Yarn added: 3213 yards and 20 skeins
  • Yarn knit: 712 yards and 5 skeins
  • YTD yarn added: 3823 yards and 25 skeins
  • YTD yarn knit: 2390 yards and 15 skeins

That means I am 2501 yards and 15 skeins in the hole for February. YTD I am 1433 yards and 10 skeins to the negative. I need to do a lot of knitting over the next 13 days to reduce the stash for February!

On tap for this goal:

  • 2 baby sweaters, 1st one is halfway done
  • Finish Milkweed Capelet, also halfway done
  • Make one pair of clogs, I can knock a small ladies size out in 2 days
  • Make 1 watch cap, another easy knit
  • Finish Wingspan, 75% done

Do you think I am just a wee bit ambitious with this list? LOL! If nothing else, the baby sweaters can wait, they won’t make an appearance until April 10th at the earliest. The Wingspan and Milkweed should be my focus. I just need to get the 3rd skein caked up for Milkweed. Maybe I will do that tomorrow? Might as well cake up the 4th skein while I am at it.

OK, I have a plan. What’s on your list this week? Month?

  1. Funny. I tried putting myself on yarn diet as a new years resolution. It didnt work. Resetting the goal for lent… :) knitting blanket squares primarily right now. Also have a quilt on go. I love felted slippers… which pattern do you use? They make great gifts.

  2. I gather Stitches West is not on your calendar :D Every year I give myself a budget (as if I need more yarn) and never be able to resist all the “this is so pretty” “oh my, I’ve never seen this before!” “I gotta have this!” Yarn diet will have to wait.
