December Recap

Whew! I can’t believe another year has gone by. So, how did I do finishing out the year? Yet’s get the month out of the way first.

December totals
Yarns purchased: 2473 yards 21 skeins
Yarns Knit: 1793 yards 10 skeins
So the difference is: I added 680 yards and 11 skeins just in the month of December alone!! Gah, I suck at this!

Finished items: 4 cowls, 3 hats, 1 blanket, 1 pair of boot cuffs

YTD totals:
Yards purchased: 17896 yards 116 skeins
Yards knit: 17,846 yards 96 skeins
So the difference here is additional 50 yards and 14 skeins

Finished items: 6 baby sweaters, 3 boot cuffs, 1 Tam, 18 hats, 2 clogs, 1 shrug, 1 capelet, 3 headbands, 6 shawls, 5 cowls, 3 blankets, 1 hotpad, 1 sewn case.

Compared to 2012 the totals are horrible!!!
2012: Yardage bought – 12894 Skeins – 71
2013: Yardage bought – 17896 Skeins – 116!

Over 5000 yards and 45 skeins more bought in 2013 than 2012. Maybe for 2014 I should just not endeavor to buy less? Making that goal for this year sure didn’t work. LOL!

At least I knit up more yardage this year to go along with the increase in purchasing.

2012: Yardage knit – 13990 Skeins – 74
2013: Yardage knit – 17846 Skeins – 102

Knit 3856 more yards and used up 28 more skeins.

But with all the increase in yardage I am 2 items short of 2012’s total. Most of that is the umpteen million hats I knit in 2012 compared to 2013. Hats take up a lot less yarn than shawls.

This wraps up my 2013 tracking of the yardage and skeins. Not sure if I will continue to tally it for the blog in the new year, but I am sure I will continue tracking it in excel.

  1. One of my goals for 2014 is to knit from the stash. But I am not planning on keeping track of the yardage/skeins. Hopefully, I will just be able to tell by the mountains of plastic bins emptied, LOL! Your total yardage knitted is pretty impressive.
