Inspiration Monday

Today will be a sad day, so not sure where my inspiration will come from. We are saying goodbye to my aunt. Funerals are never easy, but there will be joy in seeing my cousin and her kids and their families.

But there is something to be inspired by. College Girl was in a program in high school geared to enthuse students in the medical fields. It was the first such program in Indiana. During her senior year she did her project on Spider Web technology being used to help heal wounds and close up surgical cuts. She found the subject utterly fascinating. Me? Hate spiders!!

She called me last week all agog! There is a college planning to do spider web silk research. I told her, contact that professor and get an internship!!! So she did. And she did! She got an unpaid* position to work there this summer. In Logan, UTAH!!! 2000 miles away!!! We are hoping the school can give her some accommodations to take the bite out of the sting. And hoping she can find a part time job to supplement her funds. Plus, maybe get a good rate on a class while there since she needs to log some hours towards her double major. She is going to be one busy bee this summer.

But what an opportunity! So, what’s the inspiration? That she saw a chance, and she took it. She walked out on a limb, cold called/emailed the Prof and put herself out there. Proud mama? You bet! Maybe I can catch some of that drive and accomplish something in my life? Is there anyone looking for an intern to sit and knit all summer long? A “paid” position? Heck, I’d even be willing to be paid in yarn!!! Join in with Christine for Inspiration Monday. Come on, get inspired!

A knitter, mom, wife and doodle lover!, but not necessarily in that order. Just ask my family, they'll tell you who comes first.

  1. That’s a wonderful opportunity! That’s great she got such a positive response to her cold call. You never know what’s around the corner 🙂
I’m sorry to hear about your aunt 😦

  2. Good for her! The internship might be unpaid but the experience will be priceless. A research opportunity after just one year of college is pretty awesome!
Sorry to hear about your aunt. Hugs to you!
