Nothing But Knit paid me a kind compliment on my Sunday post about housewares. She said “You’re going to be able to set a gorgeous table. Some day I’d like to know your shopping/decorating secrets.”
Secrets? Eek! I have none. Well, at least none that pertain to home style! But I will endeavor to talk through my decorating style for my home.
Color: The more the merrier, the richer the better, the brighter the happier? I am not afraid of color, any color. The colors I cleave to are the following on this chart: Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Not Quite Navy, Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler, Elegant Eggplant, and Marina Mist. And there you have my method. LOL
The entry way of the house will have walls the color of Crumb Cake with that gorgeous rug on the dark wood floor, of which ours is very similar to the one in the photo.
The accents in the entry will pick up that Cajun Craze range.
The front spare room, which will be a computer/knitting nook for me, will be Old Olive walls, my Early Espresso colored Recliner, wood pieces that are a medium cherry, with carpet a deeper color of Crumb Cake. The accents in this room will be Certain Celery and Crumb Cake complimenting the Old Olive. Roman Shades cover the windows in a fabric such as this.
The 1st spare bedroom will be in shades of Cajun Craze, lighter to medium, with a Tangerine Tango like wall color. Bedding hasn’t been procured yet for the 2 twin beds, but it will happen at some point. The windows will be clothed in Roman Shades, in a similar fabric such as this.
The spare bathroom will be in shades of Cajun Craze with a shower curtain made from the same fabric for the roman shades in the spare bedroom. The rug might look something like this. Wall color Tangerine Tango like.
Moving into the family room/kitchen, the colors will pick up from the hall runner and move to Marina Blue to tie in kitchen dishes with the rooms at large. Rugs for these areas being considered are: Circles, which pick up the wall and the sectional colors. And for the kitchen area I love this one. And it also comes in a size usable for under the dining table. The dishes pick up the blue and other colors in this area will be Certainly Celery, Not Quite Navy, and Old Olive. The wall color is yet to be determined, but might run to the Marina Blue, or stay the Crumb Cake they will already be. Window treatments will be these for light privacy and not sure on the soft treatments yet.
The dining nook, open to the kitchen will feature our 5 Black Windsor Chairs at a long table with a Black Windsor bench along one side. I haven’t found the bench or table yet, but I am still looking! Window treatments are still in consideration. The room is open to the family room, but I don’t know that I want to duplicate the bamboo shades. At least I do have lights picked out!!
Then off to the Master Bedroom/Bath which totally does a 180. Night of Navy and Cherry Red will paint this room. I want to do the walls in a lighter shade of the Navy, but Hubster says no. So Crumb Cake will rule the roost. The bedding will be this set. Window treatments will be from fabric of some sort, haven’t found anything I like yet. Towels will be Crumb Cake and Red. Bathroom rug might be this or this.
Last room is the bonus. Diva Girl has requested Elegant Eggplant for her area. Haven’t found accents to go with her gray bedding, but will be have time to finish her room since she will be in school a month past our move in date. If this fabric isn’t too heavy it would work for Roman Shades. I fear a bathroom rug might be difficult to find. Or at least, one with any character. The issue with this room is the darker Crumb Cake colored carpet and her gray bedding might not mesh. And then to throw Eggplant into the mix?
And this concludes my Daydream! I hope you weren’t too bored. And in conclusion, my style is pick what you like in the colors you love!
Genesis 26:24 And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.
