Knitting · Knitting Project 2018 Challenge

Cameo Appearance

A long long time ago, ok, July 2017, I started this shawl. And it took me 7 months to complete. It’s only 537 yards of yarn. It shouldn’t have taken me that long. But it did. And now that it’s done, I don’t really like it. I like the shape just fine. It’s the color. I found it more interesting in the skein. In the knit it just doesn’t do anything for me.

I wore it with a black outfit and it did fine. I have draped it around a purple top and it does OK. But there really isn’t any black in the yarn, nor is purple really the shade in the yarn. It has a very camo look, but it has no army olive drab! I guess the best I can describe the colors are: taupe, gray, and a smattering of burgundy. Oh well, I will endeavor to find a top it really goes with or consider giving it up.

For the most part I am just happy I finally finished it in February and crossed it off my 2018 Knitting Challenge list.

I pray that Arby’s isn’t having me on. But did you see the news???? They now have Mini Cubans!!! Cubans are MY. MOST. FAVORITE. SANDWICH!!! A local Mexican American restaurant in our home town does a Torta Cubana, and oh my! It is scrumptious! We were out in Cali and ate at a restaurant in Orange, Smoqued, that did a BBQ Cuban that was to die for! So wish they were local. Do I think Arby’s can compare? No, but I am hoping it’s passing fair, enough to get a taste when I am in a hurry.

  1. I wish you loved your shawl. It’s really got a gorgeous shape and in photos looks lovely. I do understand what you mean about it looking camo. Would it look good with a beige shirt? Or maybe cranberry?

  2. I love the shape of your shawl. I’d wear it with jeans and a white t-shirt, but then, I wear all my knits with jeans and a white t-shirt.

I’ll have to check out Arby’s cuban sandwiches. I like them too, as long as you can talk them into leaving out the pickles.

Cat got your tongue?
