I am not a pink person, at all. So why is pink taking over my sewing room at the moment? In the last 2 days I have sewn 3 Dresses For Africa in a sweet pink print. And I will be working on a graduation gift in a pink and gray combo. I must have a fever?
The dresses are so quick and easy, I should try to get them done more often. But I wait and end up doing a bunch at once. I guess it works as an assembly line process?
I only had bias tape in red and green, which there really isn’t any red in the print, but there is a perfect green match. The sizes are L and 2 lengths of the small size. Not knowing what length will fit I try to make a variety. I still have 1 more pink dress to finish and 2 red striped versions. I just need to round up fabric to make bias tape for the pink dress. I have fabric for the red ones.
For an upcoming graduate I am planning to make a #10 Caddy for her dorm room at IUPUI. Her room colors will be blush and gray. I didn’t have anything in the stash in the quantity I needed, so off to Joann Fabrics for some quilter’s cotton.
I had a hard time finding a gray I liked. The pink has a metallic splatter on it, but it doesn’t really read a certain tone of gray, so that didn’t limit me. Finally I settled on this one and hopefully it will work. The pink will be the pockets, the gray the can cover. I plan to bind it with the pink.
The next pink in my life will be for a preemie hat I am casting on today. Seems my 1-a-week hat is always being knit the last day of the week!! LOL But that pink is much brighter than the previous ones.
I need 2 more graduate gifts, both with be travel cases, one with the aqua fabric below, the other I am still deciding on. I might use the leftovers from a Pinky Coral case I made from the fabrics on the left in the photo. The first case from those fabrics will be revealed on Monday. It’s adorable! OK, so all of those cases end up being adorable!
Just glad it wasn’t Pink Eye that filled my weekend. How about you? Has Pink been part of your life recently?
