Pie Birds gets its Day

I finally took the time to sandwich Pie Birds and get it under the quilting foot. I am trying to get better at controlling the quilting and towards that end I got a pair of quilting gloves. So I put them on and sat at the machine and tried to to work my magic. But first, a test. I wasn’t sure which foot I wanted on my Free Motion Ankle. Three different ones came with the machine. I also plan to purchase a Ruler Foot for ruler work. I went with the closed metal foot. It has a small presence and helps me focus better. But I still suck at moving the quilt!!

I decided to use brown thread since the backing is brown and a lot of the fabrics on top are darker. Well, should have gone with something a bit more neutral on top. Where the brown crosses the few light pieces it is VERY noticeable. Oh well, can’t go back now. It doesn’t help that my amateurish stippling is even more evident in those light areas.

I have trouble being consistent in my meander, direction AND size!

I got 1/3rd of the way done and ran out of thread. I knew I was low, but not that bad! So it was halted until I can get out for some more thread. I will get back to it after I get a Graduation present done. Party is Saturday, we leave Thursday to head south. Dogs and I have hair appts. LOL! I better get sewing!

Spent some time outside with the boys. They love laying in the grass. I am allergic to grass! I feel itchy just looking at them.

Hope all are having a great Wednesday. I am linking up with:

    Hi Chris,
I have troubles moving the quilt now and then too! I’ll be going along half-way decently and then wham – big ‘ole stitch. It cracks me up now because seriously – how hard IS it to move the quilt?!??? Not one other person on this EARTH is going to look at your stitches. NO ONE. Is this quilt being entered into a competition? Probably not . . . oh, and I just heard about a FMQ challenge to work on improving skills that I’m going to check out and share info tomorrow. I plan to sign up if it looks good. Maybe you’ll find that helpful too. Don’t you just love running out of thread?! That reminds me to check my bobbin tonight – seriously, it was low last night and I forgot to look. Hmm. ~smile~ Roseanne
