I think this one is the best I have ever made. No really!!! And a rant

I LOVE IT!!!! I don’t know if I can bear to part with it. Wait, it’s for a friend who really needs a pick me up right now. Blood work is not coming back good, Stage 3 Breast Cancer is trying to break her. But it picked the wrong lady to fool with, she’s a tiger!! I know the case can’t make it better, but maybe it will let her know I am thinking of her and she can use it to take things with her to her treatments. I am tempted to go back for more of this stuff to make everything! The dot is a textured woven, so it would definitely work for a Necessary Clutch Wallet. Hey, I just bought the pattern for the mini size. I think I have some small prints that would coordinate with it.

To-Do Tuesday for the week July 10th-16th

  1. Sandwich the Rue d’Osage table topper and starting FMQ. Planning to use my circle ruler to make some Orange Peel designs. I think
  2. Finish the half done Cosmetic Case
  3. Start gathering supplies for the July MTT, Winter Whimsy

Original from The Big Book of Table Toppers
This is wool appliqué, but I am planning to do mine in cottons.

My rant. OK, I am tired of the division in this country. People, just stop it! Stop being nasty to others just because you don’t like their politics!!! Stop using broad brushes to paint anyone on EITHER side of the aisle as evil, this, that, or the other. That group you are vilifying is made up of individuals who you would likely get along with if your politics were removed from the equation. I hope to never know your political affiliation, I am here for the knitting and sewing!

I guess the first place to start is STOP IDENTIFYING YOURSELF BASED ON A POLITICAL MOVEMENT! Be an individual who cares about issues, but stop immersing yourself in a political party to the point that you lose your humanity and decide that violent tactics are OK when they are used against the “others” you are mad at. What are we, middle schoolers? Have some decorum or sit this one out until you gain some. I am just done with the current culture. And I don’t mean age group, because it’s all across the spectrum. Grown people acting like toddlers. SMH. Just MHO, YMMV. I am out of acronyms, now back to crafting! TTFN! Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.

  1. Deep sigh. Thank you. Can’t we all just quilt/sew/knit and keep politics and religion out of this conversation? I’m so tired of, “Whose side are you on?” I’ve started to unsubscribe each time someone uses their blog or IG account to interject political rhetoric from any standpoint. I vote with my key stroke.

    1. Yes! In the past I have gotten way too political and it affected my mood. Now I prefer to be aware of issues but not immerse myself in every tidbit. I want to create beauty and read about your creative juices, not hear politics 24/7!

  2. I agree with your rant. Even in happy, polite Canada, bring up politics, and people turn into complete asshats. I refuse to talk politics with anyone any more.

Love the clutch. That will definitely put a smile on your friend’s face.

  3. Hi Chris,
I have to agree with you! I think this IS the best one you’ve made, at least of those you have shared. Your friend will appreciate the thoughtful gift and think of you as she is fighting. I wish we could find the cure to end this awful disease once and for all. That may be a cause that ALL could get behind. {{Hugs}} I’ll add her to my prayers. Happy Tuesday! ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. The clutch is beautiful! Polite has been removed from politics and until it is replaced, I am done , too. I make a difference in my corner to everyone I meet-we should all do the same.

  5. I try not to post political things on my blog but on my personal FB, yes mamm I do. That was part of my post recently about my sister. You never know what someone else is dealing with. You might actually really like those people if you took politics out of things. I have a LOT of friends that I don’t agree with about politics but we just talk about other things. It’s not like we don’t have a LOT of other things to talk about (family, quilting, pets work etc). Nice post and great clutch!

    1. I understand that people can put on their blogs what they want, but can we just do it in nice way? Social media has not turned out to be such a wonderful thing in some cases. But blogs connecting us through crafting are a wonderful thing! > >

  6. Great rant. =) It used to be about let us reason together, but now it’s let me shout you down. I’m not a fan, either. If we can work together, we can actually get something done! I like your cosmetic case and that fabric. Your friend will be thrilled to have it and to know that you were stitching love into every bit of it. It will help to recharge her.

    1. Thanks, I am glad no one has tired to shout me down. Which goes to show I think the majority of us just want civility and reason in our politics. Too bad the actual pols and DC culture doesn’t feel the same. And thanks again, I am hoping she feels love from the gift. > >

  7. I’m sending up prayers and good thoughts for your friend. The case is perfect! And WELL SAID. I often think exactly that… if we just kept politics out of it, we’d probably all be best friends!
