The Jewelry Case from Hell! Lengthy Post.

It is done! And I am not making another again. Or if I do I hope I remember all the things I did wrong on this one! LOL This was a product of my own imagination with support from By Annie’s A Place For Everything bag for ideas on the outer part of the case. The pages are my own ideas with support from a Bing search of jewelry cases for the necklace and ring holders development. I WISH I had found a pattern with what I wanted to include.

The case was started back in May when I cut the fabric for the outer case and the inner pages and quilted the pieces with front, back and batting. Then they sat for 3 months while I dilly dallied with all sorts of other projects. But crunch time drew near and it was time to finish the case. And I did.

There are 4 pages, double sided and they are designed to hold jewelry, make-up, or charging cords. A one-stop travel case for short weekends, or a full jewelry case for longer vacation. The pages are styled as follows: double vinyl zipper pockets, double mesh pockets, large vinyl zipper pocket, necklace tab with mesh pocket, and earring square with ring tabs. The ring tabs are fiberfil stuffed fabric tubes that are sewn across the bottom and snap at the top so you can slide rings on them. I think the next time I attempt something like this it will be in the style of the roll-up cosmetic case with a pocket or two, and the ring tabs and earring holder in place of the 3rd pocket.

So, now to get the kinks out of my shoulders, and allow my hands to rest. This one took it out of me! I finished the outer binding by hand because I just couldn’t face trying to sew through all those layers on the edge of the case. Let’s see, sewing binding on 4 pages, and then sewing the binding closed, plus binding the two outer case edges, I just couldn’t take 2 more times around on the machine. I was done! And I am Done! Hallelujah!!! I think tomorrow will be knit a hat day. An easy go around in circles with St st kind of day.

It looks wonderful! I’ve said it before, but because of your sewing I’m really inspired to try and make one myself. Though I’d probably start with some easier things to make to ease back into sewing.

while it was a stressful project, you did an incredible job. Rest up and heal up and pick something that doesn’t cause so much stress on your hands and shoulders!! It is lovely 🙂

Thank you. I am thinking a table runner will be the next project. Flat seams and no curves!

Hi Chris! You did a fabulous job, and this is definitely a one-of-a-kind case. I agree – you’ll be asked to make more . . . so save those notes and add to them now while it’s still fresh in your mind! I hope DH is doing better today! Happy Monday! ~smile~ Roseanne

Kudo’s to you for powering through and finishing your jewelry case. It looks fantastic! I have one of those ‘never again’ projects in the works. Maybe it will get finished…..maybe not. LOL

My sympathies; but no one will know the angst this one caused-beautiful!

I’m sure over time, you will forget the anguish, and just enjoy the beauty of your jewelry case. It is beautiful.

Every once in a while a project is one of those “from hell” projects. Good for you on finishing it and gifting it away. I have one project in the works that will never be repeated, but I am a woman of perserverance – I will press on and get it finished! Your jewelry case is beautiful and it looks so innocent – as if it never gave you any trouble!

Thanks for linking with Design Wall Mondays, Judy
