Productive Day!

Wednesday was lit! I cast on another afghan square, and I did enough quilting to get 2 projects closer to done!

#1 Rue d’ Osage!!! I finally got it quilted! It took me 3 days of filling in lines with my walking foot. I tried to do some FMQ with rulers, but it was a fail. After 3 months of putting it on my list I decided, August was the last time it would be listed! Fear kept me from moving forward with it, so I just had to work through it. I decided on the V’s I quilted in the background spaces, and from there I chose the next lines as I worked. Each time I started on a new section it became larger than I had planned, until I crossed every square and stitched in every ditch! But it is done, and I love it. Final decision on whether this is a table runner or a bed runner depends on the final size after washing. I would like it on my dining table, but I fear it is too wide. But it would be perfect in the bonus room on the gray bedding or on the black dresser.

#2 August OMG, Scarlet Stars. My plan was to get it to the flimsy stage. But it was just so easy to keep on quilting once I had Rue d’ Osage done.

I wasn’t sure how to quilt this, but I struck on an idea and filled in each area as I thought of how to proceed with the next area. The border just happened as I looked at the check pattern, why not use the lines to guide my walking foot? So I did.

Today I will sew on bindings and wash them. Not sure I can get both done, but I will try my best. I will start with Scarlet Stars so I can post my August OMG finish tomorrow.

That is awesome that you got two such big projects done! Congratulations!
I have a hard time getting past fear sometimes to finish projects, even though it probably doesn’t matter that much in the long run

In knitting I know I can rip it back and redo it! In quilting, yeah I can rip but it takes soooo long to undo stitches! LOL > >

Yes I know that feeling. My very first quilt I ended up ripping out every seam multiple times!

Hi Chris! Wow, great looking almost finishes. I don’t think it’s a fail in anyway when you have a finish. You might be slightly disappointed that you didn’t go that route with your quilting but sometimes you just can’t. I started working on a quilt with one plan in mind and it was just too darn thick to fit and move easily under the FMQ foot. I think these look fabulous with how you quilted them! I can’t wait to see what binding you chose for them. ~smile~ Roseanne

I just wish quilt patterns came with the quilting part planned or suggested! Then I would have a “pattern” to follow. LOL Thanks! > >

Nice to tick off the quilting for projects-these look great!

Thanks. Until I can master FMQ on my domestic, it’s “get creative” with straight line quilting!! 😂
