Wednesday? Again?

Where are my weeks going? Well, goofing off and crafting. This week it is intense knitting as I try to get my niece’s shawl done before her wedding this weekend. The shawl plays no part in the wedding, I just want to gift it to her since I will see her, at her wedding. LOL. Since I am winging the design I am fearful I have miscalculated. I may have to scrap the finished item and just reknit it after the wedding. Sigh, why wasn’t I knitting this sooner?

Just over halfway done, running out of yarn, close up of cable and border

In the sewing area of my life, Autumn Leaves is done. I know, such an imaginative name. LOL!

The Batiks were purchased in North Carolina last year when I accompanied Hubster, conference for him. I was able to get a ride to a quilt shop from the hotel valet. They had a lot of nice things, but the service was lacking, so no link to website. Having been in retail management I am a stickler for service. If you do not acknowledge my presence or fail to see I am standing at your counter, ready to check out, I might just decide your products aren’t worth my money. They almost lost the purchase that day, but I wasn’t ready to let go of the pretties.

The gold star and backing fabric was a remnant I picked up somewhere? and the background used up just about the last of a grunge jelly roll jr. and yardage. You can tell the two weren’t exactly the same, but they are close enough for me. Overall, I love it! I used a small leaf print for the binding, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. My only beef with it is the green and red leaves are oriented in the same direction. Grrr. But by the time I realized it I was not ripping out the seams to correct!

Hi Chris! Thanks for the nice closeup shots of your quilting. I have my own leaves to start quilting on this weekend and I will be borrowing your idea. I didn’t even notice the red and green leaves until you pointed it out. I’m like that about service at a quilt shop, too. I’ve visited a few that I won’t write a post about, and one the people were so rude I just turned around and walked out. Too bad too because they had some COOL stuff from what I could see but oh well, my money stayed in my wallet. Happy Wednesday to you! ~smile~ Roseanne

Nope, already have a border on it. I lightly blocked the finished part and it looks like I will be able to get it close to the size I want with the blocking. I always worry and then block and am amazed at how much it grows! > >

Love your leaves project. It wold be pretty as a table runner. I feel the same way about service. I need to feel that a place appreciates my business.

I’m not a knitter but your shawl looks lovely! I hope you get it done with the yarn you have left. Sending you good thoughts about that! In the meantime, the Fall table runner is gorgeous! Your quilting is perfect. I didn’t notice the leaves until you pointed it out so to me it is perfect. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss!
