Sewing Progress

Today it’s all about the sewing progress, what little there has been. Anthem is the current piecing project and is bringing joy!! I love these fabrics, I am so glad the other fabric I had didn’t work. It forced me to go looking and I found all these fabrics in the clearance section of my not-so-local-shop!! Last I saw they still had the background, hmmm, do I need more? They also had the light blue print in a light red version. So sweet!

1½” HST’s are tiny!!! I still have 24 to trim up. I’m just taking my time and enjoying the fabric as I go. I put 1 block together to check my size and seams. Pretty good, but there’s always room to improve points and intersections. And…..the value shot. I knew the navy and red would be close, in real life it isn’t as mono as the……mono shows. 😆 Although, once you are far enough away, the values will recede into each other more, so it’s a good thing I don’t plan on displaying this from a distance.

The sewing is happening on Nomi, the pre-owned

The purchase of Nomi was precipitated by a conversation we had at a guild stitch-in. One of the ladies had been browsing a new machine to take to quilting classes. A light bulb went off in my head as I realized I don’t take my machine to sew-ins a lot because it’s so heavy. Maybe I would go more often if I had a lightweight machine. Hello Nomi!  Another lady spoke about her extra set of rotary tools for class use. Bingo! So I ordered a small mat, square ruler, small rotary, and new blades for my full size rotaries. The old rotaries had such dull blades cutting was an effort! My rolling case is now stocked with my new and old extras, I am ready to roll.

So, are you ready to roll?

    1. It’s kind of silly when you think about it! Now I have extras for when the three cutters get dull. I have 1 in my to-go case now, 1 on my cutting table and one on my sewing table. And I’ll probably lose them all and not know where to find them! > >

    1. It’s just a needle and thread! I am used to saying it’s just sticks and strings for knitting, so I had to think what a similar saying would be in sewing terms. LOL! Thanks! > >

  1. Hi Chris! I love that sewing is bringing you joy!!! Your sentence about Nomi above is just hanging there – making us guess what kind of pre-owned machine she is! Anyway, great progress and I agree 1 1/2″ HSTs are SMALL. Too darn small for these old eyes but I love seeing them!! Happy Happy FRIDAY! ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. Those are great fabrics. They are just the kind of thing I like and I can understand why you are so happy with them. I would be, too. I actually found myself wishing I’d seen them somewhere and bought them, too. LOL That background is super. I know I would want it in my stash. What is the name of the fabric line, do you know? Maybe I can find it around here.

Cat got your tongue?
