First, Happy Birthday to Me!!! Too bad I am spending the day charity sewing and then in a board meeting. But it’s all related to my guild so I am among friends. I am 58 years young, and feeling it somedays!
I have been sewing BH’s Good Fortune Mystery even though I am always leery of joining mysteries. I usually change colors and then worry my choices will not work. To decide if I want to go further with this project I did a mock up in EQMini. The borders are not the same dimensions, so that last border isn’t a true representation of layout at the corner.
I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it.
Put more brown in it?
Maybe less brown in other places?
Add 4 patches to the less brown?
Forget the brown and flip the 4 patches?
Please make a decision for me while I am sewing Little Dresses for Africa
and attending the board meeting.
My difficulty with mystery quilts is entirely mine, because I change things, and thus cannot know if my changes will yield a good result. If I end up dissatisfied with a mystery, it’s not me slamming the design or designer, it’s me owning my choices and making them work for me. I am still appreciative of their efforts and generosity. As a quilter I have my own tastes and vision, I’d much rather do what makes me happy than finish a quilt I won’t be satisfied with. I doubt I am any different than the next?
