Monday Mudsocks

Today is Guild and I am so excited! We are doing a little different show and tell today. We were asked to bring our first*, or as close to as possible, quilt and our latest quilt. For me this created a dilemma, because one of my latest quilts is actually one of my oldest! Yes, Feathered Star fits in both categories. It was pieced back in the late 1990’s, but quilted in 2019. So, it works for both, but which do I use it for!!! Since it’s not my quilting I think I am going to leave it off of the list. I will take this wall hanging I did for my MIL which was returned to me when she downsized. Machine pieced and hand quilted.

And for my recent project I will take my mini, Peach Fuzz, machine pieced and quilted by me. Or, I could take Scrap Jar Stars? Another machine pieced and quilted project, but it’s a year old, so is it really a latest piece? I can’t decide!

I will have to write a list to remember all the things I need to take with me! Name tag, $1.00 donation for the church we meet at, show and tell, sock donation for charity, pillowcase donations, BOM, money for April workshop, am I missing anything? Probably. Oh yes, my Challenge fabric! I changed my mind. I decided this first choice was too dear to give up control of, so I chose this set. This last year I seem to be all about teal/aqua/lime colors. It needs to be used up not hoarded! LOL Wait, isn’t there something about sparking joy? Well, it all sparks joy, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it. But some spark more joy than others? And that’s why I am saving my first choice and putting it back in the hoard, I mean, stash.

So, what does your Monday look like? Knitting, quilting, sewing, surfing?

*Gah! No we weren’t. We are supposed to bring our first and last quilts in March! Today was for a wonderful fiber artist’s lecture. I need a brain some weeks.

Hi Chris! It sounds like a fun, full guild meeting. I had to laugh at your last minute change of mind on the challenge fabrics. Now I’m looking forward to seeing what you make with your saved fabrics along with what becomes of the guild challenge. That sounds SO cool! ~smile~ Roseanne

What a fun thing to do at your guild meeting! I’ll have to suggest that to my group. I love your Scrap Jar Stars mini – I made a lap size quilt using Scrap Jar Stars and it’s one of my favorites!

Great idea for a guild Show & Tell. The dearly departed Quilters Newsletter used to occasionally do a feature with noted quilters showing their first and last quilts. I love that the Feathered Star represents both for you! Yeah, I don’t know if the KonMari method works in a quilt studio — what fabric doesn’t spark joy if teamed with just the right project/purpose?

They are all fabulous, Chris! I am partial to the happiness scrap jar makes me feel with it’s bright and fun colors mixed together. They really pop off that white background. It’s fun and fresh but the actual star pattern is traditional, a great mix!

Hahaha…. I’ve just had the same what’s going on at guild thoughts. My good luck was I called someone a few days before to get the info rather than expecting something entirely different. Sigh.
