Monday Design Wall

A few years go our Colorado/Minnesota friends welcomed a granddaughter into the world. Through the years I have made Mak many hand knit items. Last year they welcomed another baby girl into their family. I kept planning to knit AK a sweater, but just never got around to it. So this year the push was on to get matching sister sweaters made. I got Mak’s done in 6 days in March. AK’s took a bit of time. I had it almost done, but then decided it was the wrong size. Ripped it out and restarted, and it sat for a long while looking like this.

Poor little collar.

Since we would be driving right by the grandbabies’ home town I thought it would be fun to present the sweaters in person. So I took the collar with me and proceeded to knit on the sweater during our drive out to Colorado. And soon the sweater looked like this.

Close, but still a ways to go. Over the next few days in between hikes and fires and food I was able to finish the sweater and thought I would be able to gift it on our return home. But plans for leaving changed and we ended up driving by their exit at 10:30 at night. Much to late to see baby girls. So we kept on driving and will happily be able to meet the newest babe on her 1st birthday in August!

Hi Chris! Awww, what a sweet little sweater. I adore the color and the finished piece looks better than something you could find in a store. Plus, it has all of your love knitted into it and you cannot buy that!! ~smile~ Roseanne

Aw, sniff—after all that work. But at least you will be able to deliver in August. Isn’t that something about knitting (or crocheting, too)? You can just rip it all out and start over with the same materials. I can’tthink of another craft like that.

Cat got your tongue?
