Friday FO/NO

Wow, last week I’d just left Colorado, how quickly time seems to fly. Today I am off to Athens, OH to see BioGirl! Hubster is on a golf trip, so I spent a few nights at my sister’s and now I am leaving the dogs while I go off galavanting. There might be a visit to Connecting Threads Warehouse on Saturday if I have any money left!

When I decamped I brought along my sewing. I pre-cut projects so I could sew when the opportunity hit. I was trying to finish piecing Footnote for my June OMG. The other project is my monthly mystery blocks. On left are the 6 blocks to piece with the other 30 BOMs in the basket below. On the right are the pieces for the Footnote Blocks and extra fabrics.

So, just how much was I able to get done while at my sister’s? Finished the last 6 BOMs! I can’t wait until the layout reveal next month!

I got inventive with my creative space and limited tools. A TV tray for an ironing surface to my right and my art bin on the dining table to my left. Her spare bed was perfect for laying out my squares for arranging.

The pink post-it notes helped keep things in order

The above layout didn’t live, I realized I wasn’t succeeding in getting the circle effect I wanted. So I looked to the quilt pattern for inspiration.

I am much happier with this arrangement.
Once back home I will add borders for this final look.

I packed knitting for the down time while away. I am sure I over packed! LOL I have yarn for this hat and the red afghan square in progress. Don’t ask me when I will have time to knit, since I am riding solo I obviously can’t knit in the car. But we do plan on taking in an Eagle’s tribute band, so maybe then? Or if nothing else, if we are hanging out at her apartment.

So, how’s your Friday going?

You made use of the space you had…very ingenious!! Your new Storm at Sea layout is much better. I see why you are happy with that!

Hi Chris! I love how Footnote is coming together. I hadn’t noticed the circle secondary pattern until you mentioned it. How cool is that?!! This is the quilt you are thinking of spiral quilting? If so, that would really make that secondary pattern shine. Have fun in OH with your girl. I know you will. And Connecting Threads warehouse?! Wow – that would be too tempting to not stop for a visit. You must! ~smile~ Roseanne

Have fun with your sister and Bio Girl! Your quilt is looking great! It is definitely better to have too much knitting along rather than not enough. Ask me how I know! 😉

This quilt looks great with the final arrangement. My Friday is going well. I managed to spray baste and iron two quilts and quilt a couple of rows on one of them.

Your footnote layout looks great, but I have to say — I thought you had added hot pink FABRIC squares to all of your kaleidoscope blocks, and I LIKED them! Of course if they are Post-It notes it’s best to take them off I suppose… Great job coming up with such a functional workspace setup on the fly, too. Safe travels!

I had a great Friday, too, but it’s so much fun to see what you are doing while you are on the road! You’ve accomplished a lot. All that planning and prep was worth it.

Talk about packing for a holiday! You did bring clothes, didn’t you? Seriously, that quilt is coming together beautifully. One like it is on my bucket list, so I’m interested to learn that block placement makes such a big difference in it. Those economy blocks with borders are looking good, too.
