Thursday Fun

Or not, you be the judge. My sister is out of town again, so it’s dog sitting time for me. Only this time I am doing it at her house and not mine, so that Little Butt doesn’t use my house for his bathroom. I love him, but not that much! To wile away my time while there I am taking my knitting and sewing. A girl’s gotta have a distraction!

For my distraction I will cast on a hat. I am making another Winter’s Fern, 3rd time’s a charm? 4th time’s a folly? Well, it’s just such a wonderful pattern I can’t help myself. These two will be a combo of these yarns, or maybe 2 shades of gray that just happened to be ordered the other night to try with the aqua ball.

Which do you like?

The small ball above the others is actually tan, not silver as it appears. I have 2 skeins of Berkshire Heathers coming from WEBS, dark charcoal and light gray, hoping they might blend with the aqua heather. I know I don’t have enough of the oatmeal heather to do both hats. I love the honey and aqua together, but I adore the burgundy colorway. So you can see why I must make 2, and I know 2 lovely nieces who will be the recipients.

The sewing project is Cabin Skein, a combo log cabin/flying geese wall hanging. I have been in love with this top forever! And finally I am clearing the schedule to start it. I have 3 days to fill, so I wanted a variety of options. I will also have materials on hand for the Guild BOM. I need to use a solid white and color, which is very much missing from my stash. I may have just enough.

I love that aqua! I’m a blue person so anytime something in the blue family is offered that’s what I’ll go with 🙂

My kitchen is all about the aqua and teal, so I am loving all things aqua now.

Dog sitting? No thanks for me. I do hope you get a lot done on your knitting.

Hi Chris! I’m glad you brought enough options with you to keep yourself busy. Of course, I’m 100% certain there is always shopping if you get that all done or are bored. HAHA! I adore the burgundy combination . . . but who doesn’t love teal/turquoise?! Have fun and stay out of trouble. ~smile~ Roseanne

There is a quilt/yarn shop just up the road! But I really don’t see needing to visit. Now wanting to visit? Of course! LOL

Power of suggestion – I’m sorry!

Hey now! I don’t have that much time on my hands.

Oh that is such a difficult choice as both combos are gorgeous! I think I’d go with the cranberry option

I’ve cast on the red and gold, will save the aqua for the gray yarn I ordered.

Yes I was hoping you’d say that as I love aqua and grey, but feel red goes better with gold

I’m drawn to the aqua color! But knit them both! Beautiful! Happy sewing!

It’s a skein my friend was destashing, I snatched it fast!

Fun color schemes for the hats, but I’m a cool color person, so I really like the teal. Hope you’ve been able to get lots done while babysitting.

1hat and 1 mini top done! And all dogs survived. I’d say it was a successful dog-sit!

That is a tough decision! Both are lovely color combination, and a beautiful pattern as well 🙂

    • chrisknits July 22, 2019 / 12:39 am

In the end I decided to do both! Just need to get the right weight in two gray shades for the aqua shade.

Well of course you need to make 2 hats! They are both going to be lovely! I will be eager to see the Cabin Skein wallhanging develop. Thanks for linking up to Creative Compulsions!
