Tuesday To-Do

Last Week’s Goals:

  1. Knit a felted mat
  2. Prep Grapevine Wreath project
  3. Quilt True Blueish X
  4. Piece Sunflower blocks
  5. Write first draft of Current Cowl X
  6. Attend Collage Class on Friday!!!

The mat is currently 15″x15″, still a little too floppy, I would like it denser. The sunflowers are sewn together and I am ready to iron Prairie Points to ring it. The Mini Flamingo Collage is steamed in place and I need to layer and quilt it. I am planning to put this on stretcher bars.

I didn’t even get True Blueish out, Bah! I didn’t even try to start writing Current Cowl, which is renamed to Shoulder Showl. But I did start and finish a hat. And realized I don’t like the color combo. LOL! It might be donated or gifted, just need to find a willing to hand wash wool recipient.

This Week’s Goals:

  1. Guild meeting on Monday
  2. Quilt Flamingo
  3. Piece Prairie Point border
  4. Start Shoulder Showl test knit with new yarn!
  5. WRITE THAT PATTERN!
  6. Hair Cut and knitting with friends in my home town
  7. Knit hat in a different color way. Winter’s Fern for the 5th time.

It is a busy week, I will be chasing my tail by Wednesday, and then it’s Dr appt for my mom on Friday, with the attending physician who saw her when she was hospitalized up here. And then back to the home town for a family weekend to celebrate birthdays again. That gives me barely 3 days to be in the sewing room, but at least the knitting can go with me wherever I roam.

Hi Chris! It sounds like you have a very fun weekend ahead. I hope all goes well with your mom! What do you plan on doing with the felted mat? If you wash it again/more will it get tighter like you wish it to be?? ~smile~ Roseanne

how big did you originally make your crochet wool mat and how many skeins – I really need to try one 100%wool yarn and DC right? then wash and wash until it shrinks up tight?

I knit mine 19“ x 19“, I don’t crochet. I used 2 strands and a large needle. You need a very loose st to agitate the fibers. A smoother stitch is better, to give one side an even surface.

Fingers are crossed you get enough crafting time! I’m always so impressed with how much you get done off your list each week!

So you find you get more done when it’s on a list? Wondering if I should start a list method this Fall?

I find it helps to narrow my view, so I’m not chasing squirrels!!! 😂😂

Hope you can get your wool mat felted up the way you want it to – is it just a matter of washing it again? Sounds like a fun week ahead – enjoy!

I have a front load machine which is low agitation, felting needs lots of agitation, so I have to wash it multiple times. Thanks

Fanny the Fancy Flamingo is quilted and now to decide to I continue with plans for stretcher bars as a canvas or do I bind and hang it as a quilt? > >

Hope you’ve gotten a head start on your list before things got too busy. Enjoy the birthday celebrations and all the family time.

I have gotten some things accomplished, but not as much as I wanted to. Oh well, family is more important. > >
