How it breaks my heart to think about this day and recall the events that transpired. I so clearly remember where I was and what was happening. How I pray for all the loved ones passing another anniversary without their family, those who died that day, and those who have passed due to illnesses contracted after. May we always honor and remember the fallen.
During our trip to the AQS show in Grand Rapids we were privileged to view quilts made in memory of all those who perished. There were rows upon rows of quilts made from squares honoring each victim. Embellished with their names and ages, these quilts are a visual reminder of the loss our nation, and other nations, suffered when citizens were lost during the attacks.
One of our guild members knew some of those who lost their lives at the Pentagon. She was able to find the quilts that held the names of her co-workers through an index the exhibit maintains. What a beautiful, but gut wrenching, display this truly was.
