Wednesday Whims

I went back to the hometown for my monthly hair cut yesterday. And by happy coincidence it was time for the Fall Fest. So I grabbed all my usual favs and had a food feast!! So much goodness.

OK, so not shown are the ribeye steak sandwich, 2 cupcakes, and the puppy chow

Since I was headed back I thought it a good time to make Grace-Face’s* Mini Me hat to match her momma’s.

Mom’s hat, GF’s colors

I cast on Saturday night while we were enjoying the cool temps and a patio fire. By Sunday evening I was almost done with the knitting, it goes fast for me. I think it’s because I can’t wait to see the pattern emerge, and it’s only 88 sts in worsted weight. Unlike the Pumpkin Pie hat with all its cable twists! It just took a little knitting on Monday to get it all done and ready to go.

There’s poor contrast between the purple and pink, I was limited in the colors available. In real life the contrast is better, but I know the pink gets lost in the purple. Her hat, her choice! To attach the fur ball I sewed a flat button inside the crown, pulled the elastic loop through the center and wrapped it several times around the button. The fur ball can be removed to wash the hat if needed. I just hope it isn’t too big, I am a terrible judge of sizes for kids hats. But no matter, Mom says she loves it!

Now to chart out the name of the high school they will attend so big bro’s hat can get started.

Shopping confession, I bought more fabric. I had to! I had $5.00 off purchase and needed a zipper too. The left most piece is for the fabrics I got last weekend, 2nd photo. I wanted a neutral and this Bone Kona fit the bill. The 2nd most left piece is for the background of the pillow I plan to make with the batik leftovers. The other 2 were remnants at a great price!

New fabric, older new fabric

Oh, that hat is radiant! The purple and pink just bounce their colors to each other-gorgeous!
Nice job on the speedy stitching!

Hi Chris! I can’t believe how quickly you can knit a hat. Holy moly! I just love that you ‘had’ to buy the fabrics . . . but I totally agree. Oh, and great idea about being able to take the puff off the hat for washing! ~smile~ Roseanne

I love the hat! Of course people is my favorite. I think the link shows up well and adds just the right touch. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
