3 Things On Wednesday/Thursday

WIPs this week:

  1. My Corona, aka Stay-At-Home Round Robing with Quilting Gail
  2. Wedding Toppers!!!
  3. Finish Laundry Basket blocks

#1 Muh-Muh-Muh-My Corona is waiting for round 4. I got round 3 done Monday, it was a bit bigger than all the other rounds, using 20 6.5″ blocks of HSTs and squares. The clue was for Arrows, but I went a little off road and made what I call Arrowhead, but it’s actually Double X? Oh well, It looks very Native America, and that makes me thing of arrowheads, and that equals arrows to me!  LOL, that’s my story and I am sticking to it. Round 4 is squares and I am planning to just do 1 round of 3″ squares and that will likely be the end for me. It will be up to 46″ at that point, so I will decided if I will do a plain wider border or keep with the 1.5″ solid borders I have been doing between rounds. It might depend on which fabric I have enough of to do a border and binding. I have a gold planned for the last plain border, but it might not be as dark as I would prefer for my final round. Here’s the EQ8 version of the finish.

#2 Up on deck will be 4 Patch, Duck and Duckling, and Twisted Log Cabin for piecing. I know, I am behind!!! Oh well, maybe this month’s toppers are meant to be done in the later half of the month. LOL At least New Album is layered and ready to quilt. I just don’t have a quilting plan yet, but it’s percolating!

#3 I had to stop on the Laundry Basket project due to running short on fabric. It stalled while I was trying to run down the right print. What I thought I was ordering wasn’t the right one, but kudos to Sun Valley Fabrics for making it right and refunding my money on the dark blue background. Their photo showed the light blue background. Thankfully I was able to track down another yard through a different shop, plus the Grunge Dots I also needed to finish the last 12 blocks. Once these are done they will go in a box for sewing the top later this year. After the wedding!!

  1. Hi Chris! I just LOVE how My Corona is turning out. That thin border and the piano keys to finish it off is just perfect. You have a really nice finish on your hands. It seems like having the WTs together and the quilting design percolating will work great. There are still two full weeks to the month – you’re not behind yet! ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. Love the arrow/arrowhead quilt. Anything arrowhead related brings back fond memories. My dad was very involved with Virginia’s archaeology society and he was Obsessed with Virginia Indians (native Virginians?? sounds weird.) I went on many a dig with him. Good times!

    1. Wow, so cool! I always wanted to go on a dig. We found a cow bone once, but were convinced it belonged to a Native American. LOL There is a site in my hometown that was a settlement once upon a long time ago. > >

  3. LOL Every time I see you post “My Corona” I start to sing the song. Dammit! Hurry up and finish that quilt! Actually, I like the song but my family is getting a little sick of me suddenly bursting out in song… and my singing voice is like fingernails on a chalk board, so they are also begging. 🙂

    1. Thanks! I am thinking I might write up the pattern for it when I get done. Just so people can duplicate it if they want. I need help on getting those toppers done! > >

  4. LOVE your round robin!!! It’s looking great! I also like how you took the liberty to do “arrows” YOUR way! Perfect! That’s what this is all about! 🙂
    Happy Quilting! 🙂
