Today is the kick off for the SAHRR 2021 version. As 2020 was coming to a close, Gail contacted several bloggers and asked if we would like to take part in this QAL. I was in! I played along in 2020 and created my Corona Round Robin from that QAL. It is finally ready to go on the little foot frame for Gigi to quilt Baptist Fans all over.
When I started considering the center block for this year’s QAL I remembered seeing a neat block on a FB post. I searched, but to now avail, so I had to recreate it in EQ8. My first thought was Christmas colors, I guess because we were heading into Christmas 2020 and those traditional colors were all around me. I mocked it up with a cream background, but it just wasn’t working for me, so I thought black might work. Hello!!!

Be prepared for some surprises, as not all quilters interpret the prompts in the same way. Some of us are a bit oddball! LOL. While we will be giving you a view of our round, we won’t be giving you instructions on the particulars. There may be explanations of what we did, but we aren’t working from the same block or pattern, so you may have to do some math to work out your rounds. But help might be given to those who ask, it’s up to the designer.
If you don’t care for that week’s prompt? Change it up! While this is a challenge to use the motifs we are giving you, it’s not a hard rule. We want you to have fun and make something you like!

I’m in, except I am confused about making the center panel. Do I just make whatever I want, or is there a clue? And how big should it be?
It is totally up to you how to start your SAHRR, Make whatever size block you want, in whatever pattern you want! This is just an exercise in making a project using prompts for the rounds. It is not meant to be sew by numbers. That way every quilter can use their creative genes to produce a truly unique quilt! > >
Okay. After I wrote you, I decided on what to do. Hopefully I will be able to show my starting block later today.

Thanks! The gist of it is, you make a center block to your own dimensions and preference. Then each week the designers will showcase a new border using a prompt. You will follow that prompt in whatever way you want. Say if the prompt is Square in a Square, you add that block style in whatever fashion you want. We will give you tips about what we’ve done with our prompts and even some designers might give more details of how they approached the mechanics of their rounds. Good luck! It’s a lot of fun.
