This link party is open to all, it’s not just for quilters.
If you use fiber of any kind, please link up your weekly To-Do list!
Last Week:
- Continue quilting on SAHRR √
- Continue piecing Footnote blocks /
- Get Moda top ready to quilt, newly dubbed Autumn Reign! X
- Knit on Regina Shawl X
- Sew some Afghan Squares X
- Extra: Guild BOM √
- Extra: Sampler Blocks √
- Extra: Cabin Shores Runner √
OK, I suck at 3-5, but the rest of my list I was kicking it! I finished quilting and got Cabin Stars, my 2021 SAHRR, bound. Reveal on Monday. I sewed with friends last week and got lots of Footnote blocks made. Then I pieced this month’s Guild BOM. And then I got some serious quilting done on 2 small items. A 19″x16″ wall hanging and a 72″x6″ ledge runner. The Spring Sampler is made of scrap blocks and patches. I heavily quilted it, some close ups are here. Then I got my sister’s ledge runner quilted and bound, it’s going on a ledge she has between her kitchen and living room. I was rather sloppy with the quilting, wish my FMQing was more controlled, but that comes with….practice! And this is practice, right?
This Week:
- Get Autumn Reign ready for quilting
- Afghan Squares, pretty please!
- Knit on shawl, a few more border repeats and then the body
- Continue piecing Footnote blocks
I refuse to take the Afghan Squares off the list. My niece is coming in for Diva’s wedding this summer, so I hope to have the afghan and Footnote ready for the Great-Ns to take back home with them. So the desire is there, but the will is weak! And I really want Autumn Reign ready to go, all I need is to piece the back. But then, in a week we will find out what UFO number is chosen with the APQ Challenge, so maybe I should wait before throwing that on Gigi.
So, what does your list look like? Short, long, easy, hard? We want to hear all about it!
Still a good week even if you didn’t get to all on your list. Maybe you should set a goal of just 15 minutes at least once a week on the afghan squares? I bet once you get started on them, it will turn out to be more than 15 minutes.
You are probably right. I just have to find them first! LOL I’m pretty sure I know where they are. Thanks
>
Is leaving them out, ready to stitch on, an option? For me, if I don’t have to find and drag everything out, it makes putting in a few rows a bit more appealing.
Actually, I can’t find them. I have 1 last place to look, and that’s where they always are, right? LOL >
LOL on refusing to take something off your list. I finally caved in and did just that. Have a great week Chris.
LOL, yes, I am a glutton for punishment! Thanks > >
Matching that desire and the will is my struggle lately too. I dream up way more future projects lately than I could possibly do.
I hear that! I have a list on my computer that has 20 items earmarked for future makes, but do I pick them when the whim strikes? Nope, I go and start something completely unplanned! LOL > >
Hahaha! I have a binder with about 150 patterns I pulled out of Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine over a decade or so, saving them for when I had developed the skills I would need to make them. And now I do the same thing!
😂😂 I do the same thing with my knitting patterns!!
>
It’s good to have a deadline, like the one later this year for the Great N’s – that will help you keep those two projects higher up on the list!
I am very good at making deadlines, just not so good at keeping to them. LOL! > >
At least knitting is like bike riding-you won’t forget how to do it! lol The projects are all shaping up when only one pointy needle is involved!
True! Although I am not always so steady when I get back on a bike the first time. LOL! > >
Hi Chris! I think you did great on your list. You got quite a few Footnote blocks finished. You want to have Footnote and the afghan ready for the summer? You seem to do great with a deadline, like Diva’s wedding so I predict you will work on the afghan soon. Is it sitting out so it’s on your radar? You are finishing other things like crazy – we won’t let you take the afghan off your list! {{Hugs}} Thanks for the linky party. I’m off to check on some friends. ~smile~ Roseanne
LOL, I can’t find them! I think they are in a steamer chest up in the sewing room, which is piled up with all kinds of stuff on top. Oy! > >
In the bullet journaling world, it’s perfectly ok to just leave a item on your list and move it to the next day, or week, or month! So do whatever works for you!
LOL, I’ve been moving this one in the year category! Today is the day I will search for them and just connect 1 square. Promise. > >
Sewing with friends trumps getting ANYthing done on one’s list–let the good times roll. There is always next week for finishes. Looking forward to the RR reveal!
> So true! And now, to get my day started, I think a few hours veggie on the couch is more than enough for today. Things to do and places to be. The grocery, I need to go to the grocery! >
You are sticking with it – I admire that, not wanting to take anything off your list! You did great this week! I’m not going to get anything done on my list if I don’t get going, so time to head to the quilt room!
I also need to get my butt in gear and get back to sewing blocks! Grocery store run was a must, but the 30 minutes I’ve been back and surfing the web is not a must. LOL! > >
I hope you find your afghan squares. I have had to take things off my list before because I couldn’t find them. I just keep unpacking boxes and someday they’ll show up. I hope that is true for you also. I can’t believe you are making us wait until Monday to see your SAHRR!
BTW, the link to your Spring Sampler doesn’t work.
Thanks! Fixed it. > >
I’m wondering, Chris, if you’ve always been an over-achiever!?! You continue to amaze me with all you get done, and I love the term “ledge runner”. I do think you need to stop apologizing for your FMQ. It’s a whole lot better than not doing it at all like people like me!
It’s probably the fact I can’t sit still. Even if I am surfing the web I am doing something else with my hands. So I feel guilty if I am not doing something. Thanks. Along with the inability to sit still I want to be perfect at whatever I do, which has never happened. 😂
>
Chris, perfection is over-rated and doesn’t allow for much joy and satisfaction in the process. You are an extremely talented woman!
Aw, thanks! I need to let go of perfection and strive for done! > >
Sometimes it is so hard to get those “shoulds” done – I know. You can do it!
I WILL get them done, it maybe down to the wire though! 🤣
>
You will!
