Friday FOs or No

ScientistGirl’s best friend from college is expecting and she is very craft worthy. MissVet is getting this baby quilt for her shower and will later get a baby sweater.

I knew this Moda Animal Crackers panel was perfect for MissVet. I tried to use just animals she sees in her rural practice, but had to add the crocodile and penguin to round out my numbers! LOL. I don’t think we naturally have crocs in Indiana, but I could be wrong? We have penguins in our zoos.

I pulled 6 fabrics from a FQ bundle to use for sashing, they match shades she is using in the decor. SG painted some canvases of sea life in these colors for the nursery.

For quilting I decided a Panto would be best, I knew I didn’t want heavy quilting, it needs to be soft and snuggly for baby, so I went with swirly loops. I think it was the perfect way to get texture without having to figure out how to quilt around the animals.

The border and backing is a Moda print that I continued into the binding.

That’s where I’m at this week, how about you? Linking with the Friday hosts in the sidebar.

Gail is having a SAHRR Parade Finale showcasing all the quilts made during our recent sew along. Be sure to check it out!

  1. Hi Chris! This baby quilt turned out just adorable and it’s even more special since the theme is just perfect. I love that dotted fabric on the border. All around, it just so nice and quilty squishy. Great job. I’m certain that MissVet will adore it and her baby will be wrapped in your love. That’s just the bestest. ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Thanks Chickadee!! I know she will appreciate it, she is just that kind of person. I need to remember to tell her it is made to USE! Not set aside for looks. > >
