For July my Table Scrapes project was Millbank, but I failed at execution, so it didn’t even get started until our trip to Florida, July 31st. LOL
I packed many items to sew on while gone, plus lots to knit on, but only a few items were started because of our curtailed trip.* Millbank was a easy piece to make, it was minimal cutting and straightforward seaming. This runner is found in the Tabletastic book, and my 2nd project from the book.
My fabric is from Laundry Baskets, their Linen texture line. I just love the colors in this line!! Such jewel tones. I auditioned colors and picked 28 of them for inclusion in this piece. All but 1 is used twice, once on each end. I finished the top the day I started it, and then nothing, until we were finally home from vacation, funeral, and hospital visiting. Well, after a Friday night concert and a day of laundry on Saturday, I finally got the pieces prepped and layered and set up my Janome for straight line quilting on Sunday.
I pulled all my threads out and just mixed and mingled the colors in a series of lines up/down/across until all the lines were done. I tried to match the colors with at least 1 square in the rows, but some rows only had 1 or 3 colors, so I just added other colors to those sections. It wasn’t exact, just as close as I could manage with so much color going on. Halfway through, I ran out of thread! The bobbin was matched to the backing fabric, and intersecting the background on the top is a different color. I ran out of both so off to the store I went for more. And boy did I find more, more than I planned to buy, but with baby sewing in mind, I went for it. LOL!
Fabrics for baby, fabrics for me, pattern for baby
OK, where was I? Yes, quilting. For most of Sunday I sewed lines until the last one was done and it was time to square it up and add the binding. That was the perfect activity for watching The Hobbit for the millionth time. And by the time the eagles deposited Thorin Oakenshield on the mountain top I was done. Ta-Da! I give you “Vacation Delayed”!

Now it’s your turn to link up your finishes!! Join the link-up party below and share your projects.
