Hubster and friends go to an annual basketball classic with 4 Indiana teams playing 2 games. This is the last year for the event, but I am sure they will come up with some other event to party at next year. LOL. So we had 3 extras this weekend and then before the game on Saturday we have 5 more for breakfast. So all the cooking and visiting has kept me from the sewing room. And being out of town 3 days didn’t help either. But it’s been good for the knitting!

Hopefully this week I can get my Christmas shopping done! Christmas Day will be quiet around here, with SG and EB gone to visit his family. Diva and family will come over for some Chicken and Dumplings, but Hubster might not even be here due to work. He may not even be able to be at our other family events! Hopefully their issues will be cleared by Dec 31st, when we have our full family celebration here with the addition of my parents and sister.

Christmas is what you make it, and we choose to make it work to get everyone together, rather than throw a fit if they can’t be present on that one “date”. As families grow, the desires of others to be with loved ones and fitting it all in, can make families stressed and hassled. We choose to make accommodations so that our girls won’t have a stressful life with their families around the Holidays. So what if we celebrate it on New Year’s Eve? It’s more about the family time then the calendar time.

  1. Sounds like lots of fun going on at your place. Those puppies are adorable! Nice finish on the hats. How wonderful that both your parents will get to celebrate with you! We have the same attitude as you regarding days on which we celebrate holidays. It doesn’t matter to us. When we were young parents our folks lived in the same town, and we had to split both Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day between them, so we vowed our kids would never have to go through that. I’d like some of that chicken and dumplings please.

    1. Amen, we had to fit 4 celebrations in very few days, it always a stressful time, we vowed to never do that to our girls. With baby being close to us, but not her other grandparents, we are trying to defer to them on Holidays. It’s all about keeping the season joyous and not upsetting. >

  2. Hi Chris! Oh, those dogs with their reindeer head gear look so cute. Yup, the holidays and all events going forward require flexibility. The actual celebration day doesn’t matter too much as long as you’re together. No stress is a good thing! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Amen, it will still be stressful trying to get to the few things we are planning, but we will have a week to recup and then have our celebration with everyone present! > >

    1. Thanks Ivani! I wish we had learned to put our foot down when our girls were little and do it a different day. Now we are wiser, but who wants to admit it’s because we’re older! LOL!! > >
