This week will see some travel, so the knitting will go with me for down time. I am headed to Evansville to help with MIL’s Rehab, but I have to be back in Indy on Monday, so quick trip Friday-Sunday. Then we have to figure out what to do with her on Monday, since neither of us will be there, Hubster has to be back in Indy too. She may be coming to Indy for a night or two.

She has what is called Drop Foot, a result some suffer from surgery. It is causing issues with walking and she is currently banned from driving. So right now, someone has to be there to help get her to PT and help her learn to maneuver. She will have to wear a brace indefinitely and see how things progress. Prayers are still greatly appreciated!

Today I will focus on getting things done, laundry, cleaning, straightening, and maybe a bit of sewing! This house is going to fall down around us if I don’t get some things taken care of. LOL! I really hate cleaning.

Friday FOllies

Greetings from still cold and snowy Indianapolis! Brrr, when does Spring get here? Well, if it won’t come on the outside I will just force it on the inside! And how better than with this new runner that has just the cutest Springy colors!

A local shop owner came and did a program on Elements of Modern quilting for the Mudsocks Quilt Guild Monday. And then that afternoon she did a class on a table runner, Hollow Star. OK, I requested the pattern for the workshop, cause I wanted to make it. I initially planned to make this with Christmas colors, but when I uncovered these FQ’s, I bought at the AQS show, I couldn’t resist. And I just happened to have the perfect background fabric to match!!

The pattern was a little challenging, for me it was keeping things in the right direction. But with some ripping and re-sewing I was successful. And then I forged ahead making a back, I had to add some strips to get the length I needed.

I decided to quilt each star with a different method and color to match the star color. I love how it shows up on the back.

The other areas of the runner where given some echo stitching, but then I tired of that so I went off track and just quilted each triangle/parallelogram with straight lines in opposing directions. A very Modern finish to a very Modern project.

Once I had the quilting done I just had to get the binding on. I wish I had enough of the Fuchsia fabric for the binding, but nope, so I just used the background. I still l love it. I wasn’t planning to have this done for Friday FOllies, but I am glad I did. Now I am ready for Spring!

  1. Quilt 2nd/3rd WTs
  2. Start Moda Blockheads #3
  3. Wash border fabric for Fox and Geese
  4. Pray MIL through continued recovery
  5. Sew Little Dresses for Africa X

Three blocks done, 2 to sew this week to catch up. Wedding Toppers were quilted and 3 new toppers were pieced. Border fabric washed and cut! MIL being released from rehab soon and getting better every day! Alas, guitar delivery babysitting preempted charity sewing.

This Week’s List

  1. Sew 2 Moda Blockhead blocks, waiting on Wednesday release of block #5, need to sew my alternate for Block #4.
  2. Attach borders to Fox and Geese
  3. Layer and start quilting on next 3 WTs
  4. Finishing piecing the new table runner I started Monday!!

Just waiting for Block #5!!! Can’t wait, but first I need to get my alternate block sewn for week #4. The plan for the next 3 toppers is to just do all over stippling. And the new project!!! I took a class with the guild for this Hollow Star Table Topper. I thought I would use the fabric pull to the right, but spied these lovelies and I couldn’t not use them!!! I might just use this pull somewhere else.

That’s all I got, yesterday was such a long day!!! But fun for my first real program stint for the guild. So, what’s on your list today?
