Tuesday To Do

If you do crafting of any kind,
please link up your weekly To-Do list!

Last Week:

  1. Start on Table Scraps topper plans √
  2. Plan quilting for May WOOFA, Camdyn’s Ripples √
  3. Continue working on neighbor kids’ quilts X
  4. Extra: Afghan finish!!?
  5. Extra: Charity Quilt √
  6. Extra: Diva’s Wedding Quilt /

Got some fabrics for the table runner, quilted a charity quilt, and got the cornerstone blocks done for Diva’s quilt.

These are the possible quilting plans for Ripples. The upper left is the least considered, the lower left is a close match to the one at right, but the difference is in how the Orange Peel design is oriented over the blocks. You can click on them to see a closer image.

This Week:

  1. Continue piecing on Diva’s Wedding Quilt.
  2. Block the afghan!!!
  3. Quilt Big Sister’s quilt for neighbor
  4. Maybe quilt another Charity top.

I haven’t decided if I am doing the side triangles in the border or background fabric. Leaning towards the border fabric. Now that I have the white thread for Gigi I am itching to get the baby quilt on the frame. Planning on ruler work on this one. And also eager to try the next Charity quilt. It might be FMQ, which I need to practice more.

Can’t wait to see what you have achieved this week!

I try to comment on all your posts, but sometimes I cannot get your blogs to take my comments. It’s a Google issue mostly, but know that I visit and try to comment.

For those who liked my March runner, I finally found the pattern link.

Last Week:

  1. Start piecing BOM tops √
  2. Hair Cut √
  3. Prep for camping √
  4. Extra: Quilt baby top √
  5. Extra: Quilt Charity top √
  6. Extra: Piece back for #1 √

This Week:

  1. Start on Table Scraps topper plans
  2. Plan quilting for May WOOFA, Camdyn’s Ripples
  3. Continue working on Neighbor kids’ quilts

For the star runner I’m looking for some more fabric, especially a red stripe. I have a few pieces, but need more.

A recent quilting finish gave me a chance to share my way of loading my quilting machine, Gigi. I don’t have a full frame, so I have to get inventive. I made a tube of upholstery fabric that I attach my backing and batting to by way of pins. I put rings on the wheels of my carriage to keep the machine from drifting off the straight line I sew across the back/batting to use as a guide when I attach the top.

I also secure the sides as I advanced the top. Once these steps are done I am ready to fill the center with quilting patterns, be they FMQ, panto, or ruler work. When I get to the bottom of the sandwich I pin the bottom of the backing to a tube on the belly bar to quilt the lower portion. It may be unorthodox, but it works for me. Of course, this only works on pieces that are small enough to fit in the opening of my frame.

This quilt was made by a guild friend, I just supplied the quilting!

Now it’s time for you to share what you accomplished last week. Did your list have √’s or X’s? Share your finishes with us all!

If you use fiber of any kind, please link up your weekly To-Do list!

Last Week:

  1. Scrap placemat √
  2. Matching pillow to this one √
  3. I got nothing Charity top /
  4. Extra: Charity Quilt √
  5. Extra: Placemats/Mug Rugs √
  6. Extra: Connor’s Afghan /
  7. Pouches √

Pillow done, reveal below, placemats and mug rugs were good for worry free sewing, I pieced a baby quilt and quilted it Sunday, and quilted a charity top on Saturday, finally, small pouches were a good Sunday filler, not sure what/who they will be for.

This Week:

  1. Starts piecing the tops for my neighbor’s little ones/expectant baby
  2. Hair Cut on Tuesday
  3. Prep for camping weekend

Plans for the blocks that I made with the BOM at Quilts Plus: The one for Finley is pieced on point, the new baby’s top will also be on point, but Brandt’s blocks will have a unique setting that Connie used for one of her sample quilts.

Hexie Pillow

I worked on the matching pillow while sewing with friends on Tuesday. A few of my guild buds and I enjoy our monthly gathering so much, what a great day it was. I knew I wouldn’t get any actual sewing done because I had a lot of glue basting to do. And it was going well until I ran out of my Fons & Porter glue stick! So I went out and bought some good old Elmers school glue sticks. Bad move. LOL. That stuff sticks TOO WELL! But once home I got them de-papered and the grid drawn on my pillow pieces.

And with my other pillow to help me place each hexie, I got the 2nd one done in no time. I mirrored the color placement just because I am OCD that way. They will go on my bed to match my future bed quilt.
