In: I needed vinyl, so off to JoAnn’s I went. Found a bright yellow remnant and a yard of heavy vinyl, and nothing else took my fancy. Cheapest I think I ever got out of there! LOL

Out: Did the BOM for guild and made a case for a friend. The pattern for the case is from Pellon. I made a ton of these back in 2018.

This week a trip back to the hometown for my haircut was an overnight event. My Dad is still having a lot of issues, very weak, another infection, which will likely be a never ending situation due to the catheter. Not sure what our options are at this point. This is going to kill my sister and mother, because they are not physically strong enough to continue to have to hold his dead weight when transferring him from chair to chair to bed.
They have Health aides come in for PT, OT, and Cath care, and then every evening plus Mon/Fri afternoon, a home care aide will be in, but that still leaves a lot of time where it’s just my mom and sister. I can’t commit to being there at this point because I will be Squish’s care giver. But I have asked my brothers, who are local, to step up and relieve my sister at least over the weekends. Spend a night so she can get away. Breaks my heart.
Have you considered a hover lift? I am the caretaker for my mother. She is currently able to help with the transfers, but this is in our future. Prayers for all. It is hard.
We are getting a lift chair, but there is still the issue of getting him from that to the other surface. I will look into a hover lift, never heard of them. Thanks! > >

Nice to have the sewing to touch base with. The situation with your Dad is very hard; I’m sorry.
Thank you, it is hard, but decisions will have to be made. Sewing helps get me back on track when things seem dark. > >
I’m so sorry for this situation! This is so very hard. Just said a prayer for you all. Thank God for sewing. 🙂
Thank you Mia! Prayer works, he is doing better today.

Hopefully you can spend time sewing and quilting. It’s when life becomes hard that quilting is a therapy, and Ihope it helps. I’m sending hugs to you and your family.
Thank you Frédérique, he is doing much better and Mom too! And I am learning to just be. > >
My heart goes out to your mother and sister. My dad had a catheter and dementia for years. Eventually the only solution was assisted living. My dad really didn’t want to move there, but he was fine once he was settled in.
That’s our fear, but right now my sister reports that things are better. But I fear we will live under the cloud of bladder infection/C-diff from here on out. Thanks > >
I am so sorry that your family is going through this hard situation with your dad. Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. You made a beautiful case for your friend and I like also the heart block.
Thank you Ivani! We will survive, but it’s hard on my Mom and Sister who are in the middle of it all. >
Hang in there! Aging parents are hard. Sending good thoughts your way.
Thank you. It’s a fact of life, just as we want our kids and grandkids to reach milestones, it’s sad when our parents reach the not-so-happy ones. > >
